That’s what audiences will see with KDLex – love team KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad in PETA’s WALANG ARAY.

One of the hottest pairs from ABS CBN Star Cinema, had an astounding theatre debut at the PETA Theatre Center last February 14, 2023 and have been wowing crowds ever since.
Whether its comedic timing, soaring vocals and complex dance sequences, the two TV personalities pulled off a wonderful theater performance.

ABS CBN Star Magic Head Laurenti Dyogi couldn’t be more proud, “Sobrang proud, parang tatay na nakita mo anak mong grumaduate, performing well with flying colors. Considering first time nila on stage. Kabadong kabado yan. Lalo na Alexa her voice was soaring. Bagay na bagay siya sa teatro.”

Hong Kong Short film
Dyogi also announced that the two had a very high profile project shot in Hong Kong. And was spearheaded by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Fans should watch out for it soon online this year. The network is also considering a stand-alone TV series, “We’re looking at a serye in television. They actually just did a project in Hong Kong, a short film with Direk Kathy. It’s a promotional material for Hong Kong, to encourage people to go to there. It’s a short love story directed by Kathy Molina.”

Dream Project
Late last year, KDLex was with Dyogi and wife Lisa Magsaysay in New York and happened to watch several Broadway musicals. Among them PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and MOULIN ROUGE. The experience became an inspiration for both to perform in theater,

“We were just talking about this last year in New York when they were watching a Broadway production. They wanted to be in a play. Ngayon fulfilled na yung dream nilang yon. I’m sure they will be better in every performance. Ngayon pa lang, first time nilang meron audience. Sobrang nakakatuwa to see them be comfortable on stage.”

PETA specifically asked for KDLex, “It was perfect timing. When Melvin (Lee) approached us. They were looking for two celebrities to be part of the show. Sabi niya perfect si Alexa and KD because they can both sing. And they’re a love team so bagay sila sa project na to.“ Melvin Lee is the Director of PETA PLUS which deals with Art Spaces, Production Hub and Creative Resources of the organization.

Although, Dyogi was confident they could pull it off. He wasn’t sure how soon they could adjust, “My only concern was the timeline. It was the first time. I don’t know how long it would take them to get used on stage. Suprisingly, na gawa nila. Considering marami silang ibang activities na trabaho bilang artista. So they were able to pull this off, with flying colors. Talagang nakakatuwa.”

In spite of KD Estrada’s young age at 19 years old, he has shown that he could be a legitimate triple threat (acting, singing, dancing) Dyogi said, “KD is the most neophyte of everyone on stage. Bata pa talaga. Malayo pa mararating ng batang yan. Swerte siya he is in the company of a nurturing and encouraging group like PETA. Alam mo mga kasama niya inaalalayan siya. So he’s very, very lucky to have this experience. I’m very, very, proud of him. Pareho sila, takot yan. They have so much fear. They conquered that fear. Sabi nga ni Alexa they’re just enjoying it.”

Building Communities
PETA Artistic Director Maribel Legarda, in a statement, explained how and why they worked with ABS CBN Star Magic, “If there’s anything we learned from the pandemic, it was that you can’t survive on your own. We need to be collaborating and building communities. And so we really are so thankful to our partners and collaborators that they came and worked with us.”

Dyogi was impressed with how show director Ian Segarra was able to improve it in a short time frame, “When we were first invited to watch September last year, ang laki ng pinag ka iba ngayon. It’s very polished, the costume’s better, the show is tighter. Punchlines are perfect. Actors are more comfortable with each other, an ensemble performance. Parang nag jell na sila considering di pa sila nag-oopen. Preview pa lang ito to invited guests. Ang bilis nila. May na adjust kagad yung director, sa punchlines at sa mga gimmick na mas upto date. Mga TikTok performances mga dances.”

Dyogi also expressed his long time admiration for PETA, “Dati pa naman akong taga hanga ng PETA, from RAK F AEGIS and all the other productions. They may have a small stage but they’re productions are grand. Grand in emotions, grand in story, grand in creativity. So I’m very happy of this collaboration with them.
