Jewelmer Managing director Jacques Branellec asked for a moment silence before showing their 2014 collection at the Jewelmer Gala last October 15, 2013 at the NBC Tent. Branellec explained that a number of their employees are from Cebu, which was hit by a 7.2 earthquake along with Bohol and Negros earlier in the day. He spoke about nature’s wrath and more than anyone their business was dependent on the health of the seas and forests.

An indication of Jewelmer’s commitment to their people is the Employer of the year Award 2013 from Jewellery News Asia. Branellec added, “We would like to acknowledge the presence of Letitia Chao this is her work. She is the chair of the judging panel, founder of Jewellery News Asia. She is also the director of business development of the Jewellery Group of Asia, which organizes the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair with more than 4,000 exhibitors. Last year we won the Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award. This year we are the best Employer of the Year in our trade. This is something that makes us very, very proud. Thank you Jewellery News Asia, thank you Letitia.”

The Jewellerey News Asia awards states in their website, “Sustainability lies at the core of its business. As Jewelmer maintains a pristine and ecologically sound marine environment at its farms, fishing yield at nearby waters have increased from 3 kilos to 20 kilos daily… The company also operates the Save Palawan Seas Foundation Inc, which aims to provide coastal communities in Palawan with continuous assistance and environmentally sustainable livelihood alternatives to destructive fishing practices.”

In 2012 Chavelier Branellec was awarded the Legion d’Honneur by the French government. This year, Film Development Council of the Phil Chairman Briccio Santos will be receiving the same honor from Amb. Gilles Garachon.

The 2014 Jewelmer Joallerie Collection was presented by Jewelmer President Manuel Cojuangco to an audience, which included guests coming from China, Hong Kong, Europe, South America and United States. He said, “Its grouped under the concept journey of the senses. Briefly, this collection takes its inspiration from the notable epochs of our time. That way mirrors progression of life through time. Speaking of time it’s been 34 years since Jewelmer began its own journey that started in Palawan. A lot of things have happened since our early beginnings.”
