Senator Kiko Pangilinan himself thought the 40,000 strong crowd in Iloilo Sports Complex (February 25) was the biggest they could draw. Then their Gen. Trias Rally in Cavite reached 47,000 (March 5 / Gen Trias Sports Park) and after that 45,000 in Malolos Bulacan (March 7 / Malolos City Hall Open Grounds). One can imagine the staggering number that could be achieved for their future rallies and eventually their Miting De Avance (Final Rally). After OPM superstars: Ely Beundia, Rivermaya, Kuh Ledesma, Bituin Escalante, THE COMPANY, Gab Valenciano, Chloe Redondo, JK Labajo, Leah Navarro, Bayang Barrios have all performed for the Leni Kiko tandem.

Most recently, TRUE FAITH also performed in Malolos, Bulacan. Lead singer Medwin Marfil was in a pink t-shirt with big white bold letters: YOU’RE PERFECT referencing their hit PERFECT. Their new album will be launched on March 11.

ERASERHEADS reunion?
Pinoys ask: Will there be an ERASERHEADS reunion for Leni Kiko? Will Gary Valenciano finally take the stage to join son Gabby? Ogie Alcasid composed two songs for Leni, will he convince wife Regine Velasquez to perform at future rallies?
None of that is far-fetched at all, after what audiences have already seen. And after Gary V gave his video endorsement of Leni Kiko tandem.
Gen. Trias, Cavite
The number was so high not just in the rally itself in Gen. Trias Cavite but also on the way through several locations: Marciano Mapanoo Park – Carmona, Diocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora De Candelaria, Noveleta Volunteers and Supporters and Diocesan Shrine of San Agustin and Santa Cruz Parish. All of them filled with supporters in the thousands lining the streets. Just like in any province she has visited.
Sa Cavite, #KulayRosasAngBukas!
This humiliated Cavite Governor Johnvic Remulla who promised to deliver 800,000 votes to Bong Bong Marcos. Johnvic’s elder brother, Cong. Boying Remulla then quipped to a radio station that the 47,000 at the Gen Trias Sports Park was achieved by paying off P500 each. Which is disputed by the fact that the Leni Kiko tandem is famous for NOT having the financial resources of other candidates. He also accused rally attendees as being influenced by the NDF and ‘communists’.

Boying could not even think of an original lie, as the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos did the very same thing. Apo Marcos accused his critics of being communists and had them arrested, leading to thousands of torture victims and executions throughout martial law.

No Budget No Problem
Throughout her career as VP the budget for her office had been slashed by the Department of Budget and Management. Because she was considered an ‘opposition’ by President Duterte. And yet she was able to get things done through volunteerism and private sector contributions. From PDI: OVP’s 2022 budget cut by 21%; lawmakers want it to have at least P1 billion
Companies and generous individuals were more than willing to contribute to her programs knowing that the money they donate would reach their intended recipients. These were the most needy individuals during typhoons, pandemic relief or livelihood programs for the remotest areas though out the country.

The most recent example is Robredo People’s Council success in raising P42.35 million pesos worth of goods in 2 weeks for victims of Typhoon Odette. From MB: Team Robredo churns out over P42-M relief goods for ‘Odette’ victims in 2 weeks

In the same article VP Leni said, “Nearly 5,000 individuals responded to our call for volunteers, who worked in shifts at the relief hub to repack sacks of rice, noodles, biscuits, canned goods, hygiene kits, face masks, and bottles of alcohol, among others.”
Volunteerism
I can personally attest to the wave of volunteerism inspired by the Leni Kiko tandem. Watching the Sampaloc (Manila) mini rally on youtube, I saw a school mate who acted as emcee and crowd control. Her name is Judy Ann Chan Miranda who is part of the GABRIELA movement fighting for women’s rights.

(Encircled in yellow) My schoolmate Judy Ann Miranda volunteered as emcee and crowd control during Leni Kiko Mini Rally in Sampaloc, Manila, March 2, 2022.
Judy has been involved with the organization for years. GABRIELA’s support for VP Leni Robredo has been consistent during her term. And is based on her convictions, policies towards women empowerment. Judy and I attended a Chinese Catholic school in Paco, Manila: St Peter The Apostle. I always admired her but now I’m even more proud of Judy volunteering for Leni.
The Pink mini rally was able to attract 3,000 participants. Impressive, considering it was held in the territory of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, a rival Presidential candidate. From Rappler: ‘Mulat na’: Young voters show off wit and grit for Leni in Isko’s turf

Sumilao Farmers
The question that arises: How is Leni able to inspire so much volunteerism in organizing and then attending rallies all over the country? The answer is you have to look at Robredo beyond her political career. Even before she had an inkling of going into politics.

As a lawyer in 2007 she helped Sumilao farmers regain their land. “The 144–hectare land in barangay San Vicente, Sumilao town was the subject of a dispute which lasted for over a decade. The farmers finally obtained their land titles in 2010”. From ABS CBN News:

Originally (in 2007) the farmers walked from Bukidnon to Manila as a form of protest to shed light on their struggles. Then by 2016 in Robredo’s bid for the Vice Presidential race, the farmers recreated that 3,750 km caravan to express their support for her.
Latest Ogie Alcasid song with Regine for Leni:
HINDI KA NAGIISA MAM VP LENI
“Dubbed the “Sumilao Farmers’ Express,” twelve farmers who took part in the 2007 protest went on a cross-country trip, passing through the provinces of Cotabato, Davao, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Tacloban, Legazpi, Naga and Lucena, with the last stop at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. … the Laylayan Coalition, a group composed of farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous people, rural women and youth campaigning for Robredo, said the march-caravan would be a show of force among the supporters of the vice presidential aspirant.
“(The farmers) want to tell a story. They hope to introduce the broader public who Leni really is,” Soc Banzuela of Samahang Tsinelas told the media. From PDI: Sumilao farmers to march not for land, but for Robredo

Congress Superwoman
As congresswoman in 2013, Robredo was the vice chairman of the House committees on good governance, public accountability, and revision of laws, and a member of 11 other house panels. She was known for being a strong advocate of the Freedom of Information Act.

She authored the Full Disclosure Policy Bill (HB 19), Open Door Policy Act (House Bill No. 6286), Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill (HB 3432), the Tax Incentives Management and Transparency Act of 2009 (TIMTA).

Then Congresswoman Leni’s Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill (HB 3432) prohibits discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion or belief, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expressions, language, disability, HIV status, etc.
All of these bills have several things in common they either serve as safeguards against corruption by encouraging transparency and good governance, or are pro-poor and assists the marginalized. The bills she authored or co-authored are too numerous to mention. For full list log on to official wikiwand: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Leni_Robredo#/Congressional_career

Angat Buhay
The tag line Gobyernong Tapat Angat Buhay Lahat, is NOT just an empty phrase. It encapsulates what Leni began as Vice President back in 2016. Manila Bulletin reporter Raymond Antonio spelled everything out:
“Angat Buhay has also mobilized P82.14 million worth of health projects in 124 localities, such as a mental health facility in San Remigio, Cebu, which was also given x-ray machines and medicines with the help of private partners.

There were 44 projects worth P39.49 million that were initiated to address malnutrition, among which was the feeding program that benefited 800 children in Lambunao, Iloilo.
The program also provided scholarships and skills training to more than 120 Filipino youth and reached 138 women entrepreneurs nationwide in terms of livelihood opportunities, including startup capital and mentoring from experts.

A total of P15.39 million worth of livelihood assistance was also turned over to 156 fisherfolk, famers, seamstresses, small businessmen, and riders in partnership with 33 accredited civil society organizations.” From MB: Robredo’s Angat Buhay has benefited over 600k families

Mobilizing LGBTQAI+
Leni Robredo is a trailblazing Presidential candidate as the first one in our country to support the LGBTQAI+ cause. (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Allies, Nonbinary/Genderqueer+)
She has been a long-time supporter even as Congresswoman in her Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill (HB 3432), that prohibits discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion or belief, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expressions, language, disability, HIV status, etc.
Most recently, Leni and Kiko Pangilnan both signed a covenant with the LGBTQAI+: “…included proposed action plans on “vital areas such as discrimination, violence, mental health, participation, and safe spaces of the community.”
“The proposal covers a wide range of topics—anti-discrimination legislation and policies, LGBTQIA+ and Philippine foreign policy, consultation, meaningful participation of LGBTQIA+ Filipinos in transformative governance, and LGBTQIA+, sexual, physical, and mental health. Robredo said the signing of the covenant is ‘not static’ but is part of the promise that if, given a chance, she will continue discussing and finding ways to help the sector.” From MB: Robredo tells LGBTQIA: ‘You give color to this campaign

Then Congresswoman Leni’s Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill (HB 3432) prohibits discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion or belief, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expressions, language, disability, HIV status, etc.
Filipinos are well aware of how talented, creative and, yes, vocal our trans, gay, sisters, brothers, are. Robredo was the first to tap their energy and enthusiasm the way no candidate in Phil. history ever has.
Nationwide Positivity
It’s been Leni’s lifelong dedication in uplifting the lives of the poorest, most neglected sectors that has come to fruition. The term she uses: mga nasa laylayan literally referring to those who are in the fringes of society.

They are not projects that attract everyone’s attention nationally. They are, however, projects that change people’s lives and their communities for the better. Whether its helping fishermen in Guimaras or getting tricycle drivers, delivery riders vaccinated (during the pandemic) in Manila.
When Leni and Kiko say ANGAT BUHAY LAHAT (uplift the lives of everyone) they know, they have the details and the proof in many localities, how to achieve it.
She did it ALL OVER THE country. All these people in all these different places experienced it, heard about it and volunteered. This is what we see now in Bulacan, Cavite, Iloilo, Cebu, Guimaras, Bukidnon, Mindoro, Surigao and everywhere else in our nation that has been hurting these past few years.
